Bishop Promoted to Director of Nurses at Perry County Memorial Hospital

Amber Bishop has been promoted from Cardiopulmonary Rehab Nurse Manager to Director of Nurses effective October 1, 2017.  Amber joined Perry County Memorial Hospital in 2004 as a Registered Nurse after earning an Associates Degree in Nursing from Mineral Area College, Park Hills, MO.  In 2013, she was promoted to Cardiopulmonary Rehab Nurse Manager following the retirement of Betty Yount.  Amber continued her education and earned a Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 2015 from Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, MO.

“With the retirement of Barbara Ernst, PCMH’s outgoing VP of Patient Care Services, in December 2017, Amber was found qualified and prepared to assume this new role.  Amber will train under Barb until Barb’s retirement at the end of the year,” stated Patrick Carron, President/CEO of Perry County Health System.

Amber has done many great things at PCMH over the last 13 years. She has run the Diabetic Education Program and the Sports Physicals. She has increased the hours of the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department to improve access for patients and has increased the number of cardiologists and cardiology clinics at PCMH.

“Amber is an exceptional nurse with professionalism, passion and skill.  She will bring great leadership and innovation to the nursing department at PCMH,” stated Barb Ernst, VP of Patient Care Services at PCMH.
