CARRON ELECTED MISSOURI HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION BOARD CHAIR

Patrick E. Carron, MHA, FACHE, President and CEO of Perry County Health System in Perryville, Mo., has been elected to serve as 2017 Chair of the Missouri Hospital Association Board of Trustees. His one-year term as chair began January 1.

As chair, Carron’s duties include overseeing and directing activities of the MHA Board of Trustees, acting as a day-to-day adviser to MHA and testifying before committees of the Missouri General Assembly and Congress. He also will lead a Missouri delegation to Washington, D.C., twice during the year and will act as a state and national spokesperson for Missouri’s hospitals.

“I’m both humbled and honored to step into this role for the Association,” Carron said.  “This is an exciting year to be serving MHA in this capacity!  With the new state legislature and changes coming out of Washington, D.C., there is a huge opportunity to develop new leaders and relationships.  The amount of policy change is incredible, and with that, hopefully an equal opportunity to drive improvements.”

Carron joined Perry County Memorial Hospital as Vice President of Operations and Assistant Administrator in 1993, and was selected to lead the health system in 2005. He has served as a member of the MHA Board of Trustees since 2009.

Carron earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Louis University and a master’s degree in health care administration from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Perry County Health System has been a leading provider of services for its community, earning national recognition from the National Rural Healthcare Association as a National Top 20 Critical Access Hospital in 2015 and 2016.  The Health System has been very involved in the Missouri Hospital Association’s activities to improve and advance patient safety and quality practices for many years.

The Missouri Hospital Association is a not-for-profit association in Jefferson City that represents 145 Missouri hospitals. In addition to representation and advocacy on behalf of its membership, the association offers continuing education programs on current health care topics and seeks to educate the public about health care issues.
